UNI Opole. Volleyball with university roots.

We are a women's volleyball club from Opole, competing in the TAURON Liga — the top division in Poland. The club was founded in 2016 on the initiative of the University of Opole and the city's volleyball community. That is not just a historical footnote: it still shapes the way we think about the sport.

We believe a club is more than its senior team. It is a place where a young player from the Opole region can travel the entire road — from her first training session, through youth competition, all the way to the TAURON Liga. That is why, alongside a team competing for Polish Championship medals, we are building a development pathway. In a few years we want the strength of UNI Opole to rest on players we have raised ourselves.

In the 2025/2026 season we claimed the first Polish Championship bronze medal in the club's history, and in the following one we will play in the CEV Champions League. It is the best proof that a project built on patience rather than spectacular transfers can deliver results.

Our home is Stegu Arena, where we have played the most important matches in the club's history in front of a full house. We play in Opole, for Opole and with Opole — and the fans who fill the arena are part of this team.

From the third tier to the Champions League

It began in 2016, when the Rector of the University of Opole, Prof. Marek Masnyk, the Opole Volleyball Supporters' Association and strategic sponsor Energetyka Cieplna Opolszczyzny joined forces to build a serious women's volleyball club in the city. We spent our debut 2016/2017 season in II liga — Poland's third tier — and swept through it: only three defeats, a clean sweep in the final tournament played at home, the title and promotion.

Sporting success coincided with the departure of our strategic sponsor. We entered the 2017/2018 season under the current name, UNI Opole, and spent four years in I liga, the second tier. Silver came in 2019/2020, and a year later what the whole city had been waiting for: winning the I liga, beating Stal Mielec in the final and promotion to the TAURON Liga.

Our debut at the top level went superbly and showed at once that we were here to stay. The seasons that followed proved harder, and ninth place in 2024/2025 fell short of our ambitions. It became a turning point.

Instead of a revolution, we chose continuity. The core of the squad stayed, a few carefully chosen reinforcements arrived, and Bartłomiej Dąbrowski took charge of the team. We opened 2025/2026 with two defeats, then won nine matches in a row. The second half of the season brought injuries to key players, yet we still finished the regular season in third place.

In the play-offs we eliminated Stal Mielec, lost to PGE Budowlani Łódź in the semi-final, and in the bronze-medal series fought a battle against BKS Bielsko-Biała that has gone down in club history. The medal was decided in the fourth match: 158 minutes of volleyball and a tie-break won. Katarzyna Zaroślińska-Król, the league's top scorer, was named Player of the Season.

Ten years on from that first match in the third tier, we stood on the Polish Championship podium and earned a place in the Champions League. The story continues.
